Six transported to the hospital following two-vehicle crash in Waldo

Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue

On July 17 at approximately midnight, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR), UFMD1, Melrose Fire Rescue, Windsor Fire Rescue, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle motor collision with extrication in the city of Waldo.

ACFR Engine 40 was the first to arrive on scene and found two vehicles that appeared to have a T-bone style collision resulting in one vehicle having a secondary collision with a power pole. Both vehicles had patients that required extrication. E40 successfully extricated all patients from both vehicles and performed triage on a total of six patients with varying levels of injury.

In total, rescue crews from ACFR transported two adult trauma alerts, one adult with minor injuries, and three pediatric patients with minor injuries. The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind all individuals to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles stopped at the scene of an incident along a roadway.
