Sons of the American Revolution presents award to Buchholz Air Force JROTC cadet

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Some of America’s finest of the younger generation attended an awards ceremony at Buchholz High School in Gainesville on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Colonel Roberts led the gathering of Flight 821 of the Air Force JROTC, where excellence was featured.

The Gainesville Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution was proud to present a Bronze ROTC Medal and a certificate for Recognition of Outstanding Leadership Qualities, Military Bearing, and Excellence to one up-and-coming leader, Cadet Malachai McDowell.

Many organizations were on hand to present various awards to some of the cadets, and a touching highlight was the retirement of Chief Phelps, the assistant to Colonel Roberts. A thoughtful tribute was given the Chief after his 9 years serving at the school.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a non-profit service organization made up of descendants of the Patriots who fought for American Independence 250 years ago from England and the tyrannical rule imposed on the Colonists.
