Darrell Card

Press release from Spherion Staffing and Recruiting

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) is excited to announce a leadership transition for its Gainesville, Florida office. Longtime owner Carolynn Buchanan has officially passed the torch to Darrell Card, a seasoned business leader with deep-rooted ties to the business community in Gainesville.

“This business has been such a huge part of my life for almost 50 years, so it was incredibly important to me to find the right person to carry it forward,” said Buchanan. “Having known Darrell for years, I’ve seen firsthand his dedication, integrity, and passion for helping others succeed. His strong work ethic, professional experience, and deep ties to the community make him the perfect fit to lead the Gainesville office. I can’t wait to see all he accomplishes.”

Card, who has long admired Spherion’s impact in Gainesville, saw Buchanan’s retirement as the perfect opportunity to challenge his extensive business leadership experience in a new way. With more than 24 years in the telecom industry—15 of those leading sales teams and five in learning and development—he offers a strong foundation in business expansion and workforce development. Having lived in Gainesville for 25 years, Card has collaborated with many local businesses, giving him valuable insight into the community’s hiring needs.

“The more I learned about Spherion and the impact Carolynn has made through this business, the more excited I became about taking on this role,” said Card. “Spherion is not just about staffing—it’s about connecting people with opportunities, helping businesses grow, and making a real difference in the community I call home. I’m honored to continue this legacy and look forward to building on the success Carolynn and her team have achieved.”

Under Card’s ownership, the Gainesville office will continue providing general staffing solutions, including temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire placements. He plans to expand Spherion Gainesville’s client base and strengthen its presence in key industries while maintaining the strong operational foundation that Buchanan has set.

Card is deeply committed to community involvement and plans to continue Spherion Gainesville’s support of local organizations. He has served on boards for the Boys & Girls Club, Children’s Home Society, and the Scramble for Kids charity golf event. Additionally, he will maintain participating in organizations where Buchanan has been involved, including the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce and the local Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter. His ongoing involvement will help ensure Spherion Gainesville remains an active advocate for local workforce development.

Each Spherion office enriches its community by connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day—helping individuals, businesses, and neighborhoods get to a better place. When successful, the office and its investments flow back into the neighborhoods it serves. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.
