State Attorney Brian Kramer announces Grand Jury results for criminal cases in Alachua County

On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Assistant State Attorney Brian Rogers and Assistant State Attorney Pamela Gordon presented the case of State vs. Kivi Ellis, 10/26/1994, to The Alachua County Fall Term Grand Jury. The Citizens of Alachua County returned a True Bill indicting Kivi Jacquis Ellis for two counts of first degree, attempted first degree murder, two counts of child abuse, and resisting arrest without violence. The Gainesville Police Department investigation led to the arrest of Ellis on December 4th, 2020.

Assistant State Attorney Sean Brewer and Assistant State Attorney Maddie Grippin presented the case of State vs Brandon Michael Martin, 5/11/1989, to the Alachua County Fall Term Grand Jury. The Citizens of Alachua County returned a True Bill indicting Brandon Michael Martin for first degree murder, grand theft motor vehicle, and tampering with physical evidence. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to the arrest of Martin on December 2nd, 2020.

The finding of a TRUE BILL means that the defendants will now be arraigned and will face trial at a later date.

The Honorable David R. Kreider received the grand jury findings, and no bond was issued on the first degree murder counts for the defendants.

The State attorney has filed notice of intent to seek death penalty in State vs Kivi Ellis. Pursuant to Florida Statute 782.04(1)(b), the State of Florida provides notice to the defendant the list of aggravating factors.
