TBGoods to host backpack giveaway on August 3

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – TBGoods has been part of the community for over 30 years. Over the years, we have conducted food drives benefiting The Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, donatws to M.A.P. (Music & Arts Program for our Youth), and donated to Kids Count of Alachua County. TBGoods has now decided to do our own events to give back to the community and use the business as a platform to serve in different ways. 

We decided to start with our first annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway. We were able to buy just over 400 backpacks and were even able to get some supplies to put in these backpacks, including pencils, pens, an eraser, a ruler, a spiral notebook, a highlighter, and a glue stick. In addition, we added a comb and a bar of soap. UF College of Dentistry also donated over 400 toothbrushes and toothpaste to add to these backpacks!

The backpacks are free, but the student must be present to receive the backpack (K-12th grade).

This is a first come, first serve event.

Nan & Tam Bun’s On The Run Food Truck will be in attendance, selling items from a fun menu they are creating for this event

Our goal is to build on this event and make it an annual event. Other events throughout the year are being arranged as well. We are hoping to do a Kid’s Bicycle giveaway for Christmas at some point, as well as a Turkey Giveaway for Thanksgiving. With these larger events, we will be reaching out to other community sponsors to help make these other events come to fruition. As far as the Back to School Free Backpack Giveaway, TBGoods will do this event annually from their own donation.
