Telephone Town Hall to Discuss Coronavirus Vaccine
Press release from Alachua County
Alachua County Commission Chair Ken Cornell will host a one-hour telephone town hall at 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021, to discuss the safety, efficacy, and distribution of coronavirus vaccines in our community. Joining Chair Cornell will be City of Gainesville Mayor Lauren Poe, Florida Department of Health Director for Alachua County Paul Myers, University of Florida Senior Vice President for Health Affairs and President of UF Health Dr. David Nelson, and a representative from North Florida Regional Medical Center.
While counties and cities have no direct role in the vaccine decision-making process, both Alachua County and the City of Gainesville are committed to assisting and supporting the State’s effort.
Residents with landlines who would like to receive an automated call back at the time of the event are encouraged to register in advance through this link. Please note, registration closes three hours before the event. During the Telephone Town Hall, neighbors may dial in at 1-888-410-3427 to ask questions, share comments or simply listen in. Spanish speakers are invited to call 1-844-881-1317.
The telephone town hall event, and live American Sign Language interpretation, will be livestreamed on the County’s and City’s Facebook pages and websites, and on COX Cable Channel 12.
