TFAN announces Tiawana Michele Wheeler Memorial Endowed Scholarship Gala

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tee Foundation Assistance Network, Inc., the Ruth and Walter Jenkins family, and the Minnie & Samuel Wheeler family announce the spring completion of the initial phase of the Tiawana Michele Wheeler Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at Bethune Cookman University (B-CU). The scholarship was publicly announced at the September 21, 2024, Bethune-Cookman versus Clark University football game with the presentation of a “Big” check in the amount of $10,250.

We will now concentrate on increasing the size of the endowment, which in turn will increase the size of scholarship funds available for distribution to eligible Alachua County residents. Our first event is coming soon. So…

Please save the date! November 9, 2024! And get your admission ticket to our first Endowed Scholarship Gala from 4 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Pastor Marie Herring-led Dayspring MBC. Dayspring is located at 1945 NE 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32641.

Commissioner Charles “Chuck” Chestnut, IV is the event speaker, which will include a great meal, gospel singers, community leader awards, silent auction, and the pride you get from helping to grow HBCU endowments to help our youth get a college education. In addition to the surprising fact that Tiawana attended the same elementary school as Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos, River Oaks Elementary in Houston, TX, you will learn other interesting information about this phenomenal young woman who came into this life Nov. 9, 1969, and departed July 12, 1991.

Since you must eat dinner somewhere, please come eat in support of this great cause. Ticket donation prices are $55. Either way, it is a small price to pay in support of educating our youth.
