Touching Hearts at Home hosts free senior citizen prom to benefit ElderCare

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Touching Hearts at Home is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated Touching Hearts at Home Valentine’s Day Senior Prom, a heartwarming celebration for senior citizens in our community. This year’s event will benefit ElderCare of Alachua County and is presented by Touching Hearts at Home. The event will take place TOMORROW, Friday, February 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Alachua County Senior Recreation Center (5701 NW 34th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32653). This event is FREE to attend and OPEN TO ALL SENIOR CITIZENS. 

Touching Hearts at Home is dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults by providing award-winning, exceptional home care and helping seniors and adults age gracefully in the comfort of their own homes – or wherever it is they call home. Touching Hearts at Home’s commitment extends beyond their award-winning home care services in the ten counties they serve, as they continuously seek ways to spark joy and connection to the senior community. Touching Hearts at Home was awarded Best Home Care in the State of Florida in 2024 and 2025 and recently celebrated 15 years of serving seniors in 10 counties.

Christina M. Ramos, Touching Hearts at Home executive director, stated, “We proudly provide personalized, non-medical home care services that support seniors in maintaining their independence, safety, and quality of life. Our award-winning services include assistance with activities of daily living, transportation, meal preparation, cognitive stimulation, and social engagement — all delivered with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.”

This year, the Touching Hearts at Home Valentine’s Day Senior Prom Proudly benefits ElderCare of Alachua County, an organization committed to improving the quality of life for seniors through various community programs and services. An extra special emphasis will be placed on AL’Z Place, a vital program that provided loving care and enrichment to our beloved grandmother, Rita M. Noa, during her battle with Alzheimer’s.

Ramos reminisced fondly, “My Nana loved her time at AL’Z Place. I remember it was the only highlight of her Alzheimer’s & dementia diagnosis, and it was the first time we got to see her smile since her and our family’s worlds were turned upside down by her diagnosis and the disease. She loved going each day, and their staff was so warm, welcoming, and engaging. We are blessed to have AL’Z Place in our community, and we want to continue to support such a special place with such special seniors and families.”

This festive event will feature a variety of engaging activities designed to bring smiles, laughter, and cherished memories to our seniors:

  • Live Entertainment – incredible musical performances by singer & entertainer Krista Joy.  The Barber Gators will also make a surprise performance at 1:30 PM.
  • Groove & Move – Dance to nostalgic tunes and witness special dance presentations by local senior dance groups.
  • Snap & Share – Capture special moments in our fun photo booth by Southern Gem.
  • Sweets & Treats – Savor delicious breakfast bites, savory snacks, and sweet indulgences.
  • Pucker Up – Visit our delightful Hershey’s Kiss “Kiss”ing Booth.
  • Dress to Impress – Enter our costume contest and witness the crowning of our Touching Hearts at Home Prom Queen & King of Hearts!
  • Community Sponsors – Learn more from our community partners about the services that they provide to adults & seniors in our community.
  • Giveaways, Raffles, & Prizes – Take part in exciting raffles and enjoy giveaways hosted by our generous community sponsors.
