Trash pick-up: Tuesday as usual

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – In anticipation of weather impacts from Tropical Storm Idalia, there will be no curbside collection of solid waste, recycling, bulk items, or yard waste on Wednesday, August 30. Garbage carts and recycling bins will need to be secured in or near residences.

  • Alachua County – Collection services for Thursday will be determined as the storm develops.
  • City of Alachua – No yard waste pick-up this week.
  • Gainesville – All waste and recycling collection will be suspended on Wednesday, Aug. 30 for City residents, and is expected to resume on Thursday. Thursday service is expected to occur on Friday.
  • Hawthorne – Collection will resume on Friday if possible.
  • High Springs – Garbage collection will run as scheduled tomorrow. Wednesday service is suspended until Thursday, when both Wednesday and Thursday will be picked up. NO yard debris will be picked up this week. Storm debris collection will be communicated at a later date

The Leveda Brown Environmental Park and the five Rural Collection Centers will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, and remain closed on Wednesday, August 30. Any further closures will be determined once the storm has passed.
