Two juveniles arrested after investigation into LaCrosse burglaries

LACROSSE, Fla. – Two juveniles were arrested after deputies investigated two burglaries in LaCrosse in the early hours of Saturday, August 1.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, August 1, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a business in the 20900 block of N. State Road 121 in LaCrosse after receiving a burglary alarm.

When deputies arrived, they found the business’s front glass door had been shattered. Surveillance video showed two individuals throwing rocks through the glass before unlawfully entering the business, stealing merchandise, and fleeing on foot.

A K9 deputy deployed his agency-issued K9 partner to conduct a track from the scene. The track led deputies to a nearby residence where they came in contact with two male juveniles, ages 16 and 15, who were detained pending further investigation. Investigators determined both juveniles matched the individuals seen in the surveillance footage. They were taken into custody.

While the business burglary investigation was underway, additional deputies responded to a reported vehicle burglary in the 21600 block of NW County Road 1493 in LaCrosse. An eyewitness reported seeing two teenagers rummaging through a vehicle and attempting to steal a go-kart from the property.

Through the course of the investigation, deputies determined the same two juveniles were responsible for both incidents.

In connection with the business burglary, the juveniles were charged with Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, Criminal Mischief, and Theft.

In connection with the vehicle burglary investigation, the juveniles were charged with Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance, and Theft.
