Two transported to hospital after two-car accident near Lacrosse

This morning at approximately 10:55 a.m., crews from Lacrosse and Alachua County Fire Rescue responded to CR 235 just south of Lacrosse for a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident requiring extrication.
Upon arrival, both vehicles were found with major damage, and The “Jaws of Life” were utilized to remove two adult female patients from one of the vehicles. Trauma alerts were issued for both patients due to severity of the injuries sustained. Both patients were transported to UF Health Shands Emergency Department. The driver of the other vehicle refused transport.
The cause of the accident is under investigation through the Florida Highway Patrol. Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to use caution when driving in inclement weather and always wear your seatbelt.
