U.S. 301 brush fire contained

Early Wednesday afternoon, Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) responded to a brush fire located at the southeastern corner of NE 22^nd Lane and US Highway 301. With assistance from Windsor Fire Rescue, Melrose Fire Rescue, and the Division of Forestry, the fire has since been contained, though ACFR advises that all travelers remain cautious driving in this area as smoke will persist throughout the afternoon and evening. 

Alachua County Fire Rescue would also like to remind citizens to please exercise caution when burning yard waste, especially in dry or windy conditions.
