GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Nicholas Troy Terrell, 26, was arrested early this morning on a DUI charge. At the time of his arrest, Terrell reportedly said he was an Uber driver taking someone home.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper reported that he pulled Terrell over on NW 13th Street near Archer Road around 2:00 a.m. because he was driving 45 mph in a 30 mph zone. When he made contact with Terrell, he noted that Terrell appeared impaired and smelled like alcohol, so the trooper asked him to perform field sobriety exercises. Terrell reportedly performed poorly on the exercises and was arrested.
At the Alachua County Jail, Terrell’s blood alcohol level was reportedly measured at .192 and .179.
The passenger was identified and released to be picked up by a taxi.
Terrell has no criminal history and was released on his own recognizance with a requirement to report for substance/alcohol abuse treatment supervision.
