UF College of Nursing to host first North Central Florida Health Festival

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida College of Nursing will host the inaugural North Central Florida Health Festival, a free community event marking the college’s 70th anniversary celebration.
The festival is set for Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bo Diddley Plaza in downtown Gainesville. The all-ages event will bring together health professionals, campus partners, clinical providers, and community organizations for a day focused on wellness, education, and connection.
The festival marks a commitment to accessible, responsive, and innovative healthcare for everyone. The theme is “lighting the way together.” Highlights include:
- Free health screenings and wellness checks
- Mobile health units and outreach services
- Interactive health education booths
- Informational tabling by campus and community groups
- Fitness and mindfulness demonstrations
- Kid-friendly activities and giveaways
- Local vendors and live entertainment
- Mammograms available by appointment through the UF Health Cancer Institute’s Mobile Cancer Screening Connector. Insurance is not required. Please call 352-359-5184.
“As we celebrate 70 years of impact, we are excited to gather with our community to focus on what matters most: health, access, and partnership,” said Jacobi I. Bedenfield, Ph.D., director of immersive experiential learning for the UF College of Nursing. “This festival embodies our belief that when we light the way together, healthier communities follow.”
The festival highlights the college’s ongoing commitment to community partnerships, expanded mobile outreach, health education, preventive screenings, and continuing education.
Community organizations, healthcare providers, and others are invited to get involved as sponsors or participants.
