UF Football: Four Gators Named to 2020 All-SEC Coaches’ Team

Elam, Pitts, Toney, and Trask all earn recognition for strong seasons
Florida’s Kadarius Toney, Kyle Pitts, Kaiir Elam, and Kyle Trask were named to the 2020 All-Southeastern Conference Coaches’ Team, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Toney was named First Team All-Purpose and a First Team Return Specialist while also being named a Second Team Wide Receiver.
Pitts was named a First Team Tight End while Elam was named a First Team Defensive Back.
Trask was named a Second Team Quarterback.
Toney recorded 70 receptions, 10 touchdown receptions, and 984 receiving yards, which places him within 16 yards of the 12th 1,000-yard receiving season in school history and first since Taylor Jacobs logged 1,088 in 2002.
Meanwhile, Toney has collected 161 rushing yards on 19 carries with one score. With 18 kick and punt returns, he has recorded 294 yards and one touchdown. He averaged 22.1 yards per kick return and 12.6 yards per punt return.
Toney is the first Gator since Demarcus Robinson (four in 2014) with four 100-yard receiving games in a season.
Pitts quickly became the best tight end in the country this season with 43 receptions, 770 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
Pitts’ 12 receiving touchdowns this season are the second highest total by a tight end in SEC history. Vanderbilt’s Allama Matthews (14 in 1982) holds the SEC record. Pitts’ 770 yards this year tie Kirk Kirkpatrick (1990) for second on Florida’s single-season record list for receiving yards by a tight end.
The junior is the first tight end in Gators history and the eighth FBS tight end in the last five years (including 2020) with three games of 100-plus receiving yards in the same season.
Elam had a strong season, collecting 39 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 pass break-ups this year as a bright spot for the future of Florida’s secondary.
Trask, despite leading the FBS this season in total touchdowns (46), touchdown passes (43), passing yards (4,125), and passing yards per game (375), was named the second-best quarterback in the conference.
Trask’s three touchdown passes against Alabama made him the ninth player in FBS history to throw at least 43 touchdown passes through the first 11 games of a season. Of those nine, Trask is one of three to accomplish the feat with fewer than 50 attempts per game.
Trask is one of 29 FBS quarterbacks since 1996 to log five 400-yard passing games in a season and is the only SEC quarterback to accomplish the feat within that span.
