Florida is ranked inside the top 10 of the Preseason Coaches Poll for the second consecutive year.
Florida will open the 2020 season ranked eighth in the first edition of the Amway Coaches Poll, released August 6 by USA Today.
During their second year under Head Coach Dan Mullen, the Gators finished the 2019 season ranked seventh in the Coaches Poll after logging an 11-2 record. Florida’s record last year marked the first time since the 2008 and 2009 seasons that the Gators garnered consecutive double-digit winning seasons.
The 2020 poll marks the second consecutive time the Gators have ranked inside the Top 10, as Florida also landed on the No. 8 spot prior to 2019 season.
Florida is the only Power 5 school in the state of Florida to land inside the Top 10 in the preseason poll and one of four SEC teams, joining No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 LSU.
The Coaches Poll powered by USA Today Sports is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at FBS schools. The panel is chosen by random draw, conference by conference plus independents, from a pool of coaches who have indicated to the American Football Coaches Association their willingness to participate. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
