Press release from UF Athletic Association
After starting the season 2-0 against two ranked opponents, Florida sits at No. 4
The Florida lacrosse team soared 10 spots in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, landing at No. 4, as the organization announced Monday afternoon.
The Gators started the season off 2-0 against two Top-20 opponents: defeating then-No. 18 Colorado at home, before knocking off then-No. 1 Maryland in College Park, Md. The Gators snapped the Terrapins’ 86-game home win streak, dating back to 2012, and knocked off their first No. 1 opponent since the 2012 season (Northwestern, 8-7).
Florida will face six more IWLCA opponents this season: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 5 Stony Brook, No. 9 Princeton, No. 12 Loyola, No. 16 Navy and No. 19 Dartmouth.
Up next, the Gators return home for a matchup against No. 12 Loyola on Saturday, February 22. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
