UF Lacrosse: Three Gators Earn AAC Weekly Honors

Kaitlyn Dabkowski, Shannon Kavanagh, and Danielle Pavinelli pick up AAC accolades in week 4

After picking up two nonconference wins against Kennesaw State and Stetson this past week, the Gators earned three American Athletic Conference awards, the league announced Monday.

Shannon Kavanagh earned her first Midfielder of the Week honor this season, while Danielle Pavinelli was named Freshman of the Week for the first time in her career, and Kaitlyn Dabkowski earned a spot on the Honor Roll.

Kavanagh scored eight goals and registered 13 draw controls in the two games last week. The senior notched her third hat trick of the season against Kennesaw State, tallying three goals on six shots, while also adding in a season-high eight draw controls and one groundball.

Against Stetson, Kavanagh notched a season-high five goals – her third hat trick in four games. She also notched five draw controls in the 19-7 win.

Pavinelli earned the first conference honor of her career after scoring seven points, along with three groundballs and two draw controls.

The freshman posted her first collegiate hat trick against Kennesaw State on March 3, along with an assist, two groundballs, and a draw control.

Pavinelli had another stellar performance against Stetson, recording three points, including a career-high two assists in the game. She also tallied a career-best two draw controls against the Hatters to help Florida to victory.

Dabkowski earned her first honor roll nod of the season after she anchored Florida’s defense for the two games this past week. She led a defensive squad that held opponents to 7.00 goals per game, and the Gators currently sit 12th in the nation in scoring defense (8.00).

Over the course of the two games, Dabkowski notched four groundballs and two caused turnovers. The senior defender scored just her second career goal against the Stetson Hatters on March 6.

The Gators are back in action Sunday as they take on in-state foe Jacksonville at DB Milne Field. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
