UF Men’s Basketball: Florida 73, Arkansas 59

Press release from UF Athletic Association

Noah Locke improved his 3-point streak to 24 games

Florida beat Arkansas, 73-59, in a home game Tuesday night. Florida is now 17-9, (9-4 SEC), and Arkansas is 16-10 (4-9 SEC).

Notable:

  *   Florida has won 3 straight and 5 of its last 6. It marked UF’s 14th straight home win vs. Arkansas, winning every meeting in Gainesville since a 1995 loss.
  *   The Gators have matched last season’s regular season win total (17) and SEC win total (9) with 5 opportunities still remaining on the SEC schedule. UF will finish .500 or better in SEC play for the 5th straight season and the 21st time in the last 22 seasons (8-10 in 2014-15).
  *   Keyontae Johnson posted his 6th double-double of the season (10th career) with 24 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 15-for-17 from the free throw stripe, matching UF’s individual season high in both categories (Kerry Blackshear, 15-for-17 vs. Utah State).
  *   With Johnson’s proficiency at the free throw line providing the bulk of his scoring, he became the 4th Gator in the Donovan/White era (since 1996) to post 24 points on 7 or fewer field goal attempts.
     *   KeVaughn Allen, 26 points, 5-for-7, 2/21/17 vs. South Carolina
     *   Matt Walsh, 25 points, 4-for-7, 2/7/04 vs. Vanderbilt
     *   Eddie Shannon, 27 points, 7-for-7, 11/18/97 vs. UCF
  *   Noah Locke improved his 3-point streak to 24 games, tied for 7th-longest in UF history with an Anthony Roberson streak (12/22/03-11/23/04). Locke shot 3-for-4 from 3-point range and has made 10 of his last 13 3-point attempts.
  *   The Gators shot .375 from 3-point range as a team against an Arkansas defense that was allowing a nation’s-best .253 from long range entering the game.
  *   Andrew Nembhard scored 12 of his 17 points over the game’s final 13 minutes.
