First-team All-SEC honoree Keyontae Johnson will not test the NBA waters and announced his plans to return to Florida for his junior season in 2020-21.
“Dear Gator Nation, I want to thank everyone for being with me during this decision, and I can’t wait to get back and play with my brothers again next season!” Johnson posted on his Instagram account.
“We’ve got unfinished business & the Gators will be ready to go. I’m excited to keep growing on and off the court with Coach White and our coaching staff here & keep playing in front of the Rowdy Reptiles & Gator Nation! Everybody stay safe & Go Gators!”
Johnson led the Gators with 14.0 points per game last season and averaged 7.1 rebounds while shooting .544 from the field. The Norfolk, Va., native had eight double-doubles and six 20-point games last season and won Charleston Classic MVP honors in November. His 25-point, 11-rebound, five-assist performance vs. LSU marked the first 25/10/5 stat line by a Gator since Nick Calathes in 2009.
