Gators junior honored for strong performance on Sunday
Florida’s Leonardo Garcia was named the Southeastern Conference’s Male Diver of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Garcia, a junior transfer from Missouri who hails from Cali, Colombia, won the men’s three-meter on Sunday with a season-best score of 416.1 which is an A-cut performance for NCAA Diving Zones.
Garcia also placed second on the men’s platform with a score of 336.1.
Gators diving coach Bryan Gillooly said that Garcia’s success has only just begun.
“I’m very happy for Leo,” Gillooly said. “He has been an extremely positive addition to this team, both as a diver and as a person. It is always great when someone’s hard work gets recognized. I really think the best is yet to come for him.”
