UF Men’s Tennis: Andrade, Riffice, Vale Advance to 2021 NCAA Singles Tournament Round of 32

Three Gators win first matches less than 24 hours after winning national championship

Florida’s Andy Andrade, Sam Riffice, and Duarte Vale advanced to the Round of 32 in the 2021 NCAA Singles Tournament on Sunday at the USTA National Campus.

Less than a day removed from winning the first national championship in program history, the talented trio of Gators took to the court for the individual portion of the NCAA Tournament.

Vale and Andrade both won in two sets to advance, while Riffice came back from a 1-6 first set to down his opponent.

Vale won 6-1, 6-0 over Jeffrey Von Der Schulenberg of Virginia and will now face off with August Holmgren of San Diego on Monday at 2 p.m. ET.

Andrade’s 7-6 (2), 6-0 victory over Francisco Rocha of Middle Tennessee St. sets him up for a matchup with Gabriel Decamps of UCF on Monday at 3 p.m. ET.

Riffice defeated Nathan Ponwith of Arizona State by a score of 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 and moves on to face Andres Martin of Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. ET on Monday.

Riffice and Vale are also set to play Guy Den Oden and Adrian Oetzbach of Pepperdine at 6:30 p.m. ET on Monday in doubles action, while Will Grant and Johannes Ingildsen will join the competition and take on Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol of South Alabama at 4 p.m. ET.

The doubles tournament begins with the Round of 32.
