Gator captain continues to impress in individual tournament
Florida’s Sam Riffice advanced to the semifinals of the 2021 NCAA Singles Tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Valentin Vacherot of Texas A&M on Wednesday at the USTA National Campus.
Since dropping his first set in the round of 32, the junior is 36-7 in his last six sets.
Riffice is looking to become only the third Gator in school history to win an individual national championship in singles. Mark Merklein (1994) and Jeff Morrison (1999) were the other two winners.
No. 6-seeded Riffice is now scheduled to play No. 1-seeded Liam Draxl of Kentucky on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET at the USTA National Campus.
