UF Softball: Cottrill, Reis, and Hoover Shine During Second Scrimmage

Orange defeated Blue, 12-0, Friday afternoon at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in the second scrimmage of the fall for the Florida softball program.
Julia Cottrill, Jaimie Hoover, and Kali Reis each turned in tremendous performances at the plate for the Orange squad. The trio combined to go 9-for-15 (.600) with eight RBI, eight runs scored, and a home run each.
Cottrill notched a single, a double, a home run, and three RBI to become the top point scorer for the scrimmage. She moved into the top spot in the overall rankings when she earned MVP 1 honors for her effort.
The 260 points she earned are also the most points accumulated in a single scrimmage by a Gator this fall.
Reis followed up Cottrill’s performance with 230 points. The freshman shortstop tallied a pair of singles, a home run and three RBI to earn co-MVP 2 honors along with Hoover. Hoover turned in a 220-point performance that consisted of two singles, a home run, and two RBI.
In the circle for the Orange, Elizabeth Hightower and Rylee Trlicek earned 178 and 156 points respectively as the duo held the Blue team to just three hits over seven innings of work.
Hannah Adams and Kendyl Lindaman continued to stay hot at the plate for the Blue squad as Adams went 2-for-3 and Lindaman went 1-for-2. Through the first two scrimmages, Adams is now 5-for-8 with a trio of doubles, while Lindaman is 2-for-3 with a home run and five walks.
The Gators are scheduled to hold more scrimmages this fall, which will culminate in a three-game Orange & Blue series. All scrimmages and practices are closed to the public.
