Florida softball standout Kendyl Lindaman was recently announced as a candidate for the 2021 Senior CLASS award. A total of 30 candidates for the award were revealed Thursday afternoon.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Lindaman, in her fifth year, has been considered a consistent force on the field since her freshmen season and has racked up multiple accolades up until now.
At the national level, she is a three-time NFCA All-American (’17, ’18, & ’19) and earned 2019 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week honors along with being a top-three finalist for the 2017 NFCA Freshman of the Year and appearing on USA Softball’s Player of the Year Top 50 “Watchlist” in 2018, 2020 and 2021.
Academically, Lindaman was named 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year after she graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s in Educational Sciences in May of 2020.
Over her career, Lindaman has also earned numerous other academic awards including: 2020 SEC Academic Honor Roll, 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team, 2018 Academic All-Big Ten, 2017 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award, and 2017 NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in March, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches, and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 Women’s College World Series® in June.
