The series finale between Florida and USF scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. (ET) has been postponed to a later date due to the potential of deteriorating weather conditions.
The Gators (2-0) and the Bulls (0-2) experienced a three-hour delay in the season-opening doubleheader Saturday due to weather but were able to get in both games before conditions worsened overnight.
Florida took game one of the series 6-3 with reliever Katie Chronister (1-0) earning the win in the circle and made the quick turnaround to trounce USF in game two 15-0. Elizabeth Hightower (1-0) and Rylee Trlicek combined for the one-hit shut-out, and the UF offense pounded out 14 hits en route to the second-largest margin of victory against USF in program history.
Junior Charla Echols was 6-for-6 at the plate, with a double, a triple, a home run, and six RBI over the two games played. Cheyenne Lindsey (3-for-4), Hannah Adams (4-for-7), Kendyl Lindaman (2-for-6), Jaimie Hoover (2-for-6), and Avery Goelz (2-for-4) helped lead the charge offensively for the Gators, who batted .421 (24-for-57) in the doubleheader.
