UF Track & Field: Holloway Earns USTFCCCA Coach of the Year South Region Award

This is Holloway’s fourth regional honor for the women’s program and eighth overall indoors

University of Florida Track & Field and Cross Country Head Coach Mike Holloway was named the South Region Women’s Head Coach of the Year for the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field season, the USTFCCCA announced Thursday.

Holloway, who earned the regional honor for the fourth time as the women’s head coach, led the Gators to a second-place finish at this year’s SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships after recording a total of 81 team points, with all 12 competitors contributing a score.

The Gators earned medals in eight events, including an individual SEC title for freshman Talitha Diggs and top-3 finishes for the DMR and 4×400-meter relays squads.

Holloway’s fourth regional laurel is tied for the most among head coaches of women’s programs in the region. Among coaches who have received the honor for both men’s and women’s programs, Holloway leads the way with eight.

Holloway’s Indoor Track and Field South Region Coach of the Year Awards:

  *   Men: 2010, 2011, 2015 & 2019
  *   Women: 2010, 2012, 2014 & 2021

Holloway and the Florida track and field programs head to nationals next week with a combined 22 entries, which is the second-most in the nation.

Florida’s women will enter championship week ranked fifth on the latest USTFCCCA national poll with a total of 12 entries, which ranks tied for second-most nationally. Meanwhile, the men will check in at No. 7 with 10 entries, the fourth-most in the nation.
