University of Florida women’s swimming and diving Cecilia Porter was named the SEC Female Freshman of the Week for her performance in Florida’s 190-94 victory over the Miami Hurricanes on Nov. 5.
Porter earns her first career SEC accolade after meeting the B time standard in the 100 breast for the second straight meet, winning her first collegiate event with the top effort of 1:01.82 (13th-fastest in the nation). She slightly improved on her time in the event from the season opener at Georgia the week prior. Additionally, she added a 27.50 50 breast split for Florida’s winning 200 medley relay and posted the second-fastest time in the 200 IM against the Hurricanes.
Florida will end the 2020 portion of their dual meet schedule with a 1-1 mark and will be back in action with the Auburn Invitational on Nov. 18-20. Divers will take to the boards in the final competition of the fall at the Miami Diving Invitational on Dec. 2-4 in Coral Gables.
Florida jumps back into their 2020-21 season schedule at the Ann Marie Rogers Swimming and Diving Pool in their final home meet of the season on Jan. 9, 2021 against Texas A&M before wrapping up the season with their final dual of the regular season at Auburn on Jan. 23.
