Workshop on April 12 uses cupcakes and conversations to teach girls about self-love and healthy relationships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dream on Purpose is rewriting the script and having honest discussions with youth about what real love looks like at “Cupcakes & Conversations: Netflix & Chill” – 10th Anniversary Edition.
The event takes place on April 12, 2025, from 2:00– 4:00 p.m. at the Greater Gainesville Chamber (300 E. University Avenue, Suite 100, Gainesville, FL).
“Netflix & Chill” kicks off Dream on Purpose’s signature event series, Cupcakes & Conversations. This year, the nonprofit is bringing back fan favorites—topics chosen by the girls themselves based on past events they loved. Designed for girls ages 11–18, the event features watching short films, engaging in powerful conversations, and participating in fun, reflective activities focused on defining healthy love, setting boundaries, understanding consent, and embracing self-worth.
“This event is more than just a movie night with girl talk—it’s a full-circle moment for our mission,” said Vice President JoAnne Karagnara. Attendees will enjoy a full experience that consists of journaling, group talks, resource kits, a question-and-answer segment entitled “Truth Booth,” an interactive game entitled “Red Flag, Yellow Flag, Green Flag,” and snacking on cupcakes and popcorn.
In honor of this experience and its 10-year anniversary, Dream on Purpose is hosting several fundraisers—starting with a popcorn fundraiser where proceeds will be leveraged as a match during The Amazing Give on April 24, 2025. Dream on Purpose is raising funds to renovate, furnish, and equip its soon-to-open youth center, supported in part by a Fixed Capital Outlay appropriations grant secured during Senator Keith Perry’s term.
“As we celebrate 10 years of impact, we’re inviting the community to stand with us as we prepare to open a permanent space dedicated to empowering youth,” states Karagnara. “We’re manifesting BIG DREAMS—and showing our young people that they have the power to do the same!”
The Amazing Give offers local nonprofits the chance to advance their critical missions by connecting with donors and raising funds through a single online donation platform. This 12-hour online fundraising effort, which starts at 8:00 a.m., is hosted by the Junior League of Gainesville.
