GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Sigma Zeta Chapter, and Peaceful Paths, Incorporated are proud to present “What’s Love Got to Do With It? Orange You Empowered,” an impactful event focused on domestic violence awareness. Held in collaboration with The Children’s Trust of Alachua County, Finer Foundation of Florida, and Dream on Purpose, the event will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Springhill Church (120 SE Williston Rd) in Gainesville, FL.

“This collaboration, occurring during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, underscores the importance of equipping young people and families with tools to recognize and prevent dating and domestic violence,” said Crystal Sorrow, CEO of Peaceful Paths, Inc.

Established to empower individuals affected by domestic violence, Peaceful Paths offers services ranging from emergency shelter and crisis counseling to legal advocacy and support groups. Additionally, Peaceful Paths works year-round with schools, afterschool programs, and college and community groups to provide violence prevention education to youth. “Through education, shared experiences, and access to resources, we are fostering empowerment and hope within our community. We are honored to partner with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and others to make a lasting impact on the lives of youth and families in Alachua County.”

Designed for girls (11-18), college-aged women (19-24), and their parents and guardians, this empowering afternoon features workshops on identifying red flags, shared stories, community resources, breakout sessions, refreshments, door prizes, and more. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange in solidarity.

“This event reflects Zeta’s unwavering commitment to community service and education,” said Chapter President Yvette Carter. “Together with our incredible partners, we aim to provide tools and knowledge to foster healthier relationships and empowered communities.”

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. continues to honor its commitment to service and domestic violence awareness through impactful initiatives executed during the 2024-2025 sorority year. In October, the chapter led a social media campaign to educate the community about domestic violence and its impact. Additionally, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with its auxiliary, Zeta Amicae of Gainesville, FL and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., the Epsilon Omicron Sigma Chapter, supported the Peaceful Paths’ holiday giving program by collectively donating more than 300 essential items to assist survivors and their families during the holiday season as part of “Purple Christmas,” reinforcing their dedication to building a safer, more empowered community.
