GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Sigma Zeta Chapter, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Violette N. Anderson Award, an honor that celebrates the extraordinary contributions of women who have shown exceptional leadership and advocacy in Alachua County. The award was presented at a prestigious ceremony, where Representative Yvonne Hinson and Mrs. Cassandra Davis were recognized for their pioneering efforts in their respective fields.

The Violette N. Anderson Award is named in honor of Violette N. Anderson, the first African American female attorney admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the eighth National President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The award serves to honor women who have made a significant impact in social justice, civic and legal matters, and civil rights.

Representative Yvonne Hinson, a former educator and current member of the Florida House of Representatives (District 21), was celebrated for her tireless work in advocating for educational equity, community empowerment, and social justice. As a dedicated community activist, Representative Hinson continues to shape the future of Alachua County and beyond through her leadership and commitment to equity.

Mrs. Cassandra Davis, a distinguished youth advocate and retired banker, was recognized for her outstanding service in empowering youth and advocating for financial literacy. Mrs. Davis has devoted much of her career to community activism, providing support and mentorship to the next generation, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to thrive.

The Violette N. Anderson Award honors these women for embodying the refined characteristics of excellence, perseverance, and advocacy that Violette Anderson herself represented throughout her life and career.

Anderson by recognizing and celebrating the achievements of those who strive to make a lasting impact in their communities.
