114 violations issued by school zone speed cameras in first week of operation

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff’s Office has announced that 114 speed violations were confirmed in the first week of operation of Alachua County’s School Zone Speed Camera Enforcement Program.
The cameras are at Chiles Elementary and Wiles Elementary, and they are located on SW 24th Avenue (one each in the eastbound and westbound directions) and on SW 75th Street (one each in the northbound and southbound directions).
The cameras began logging infractions on May 26, and between May 26 and May 29, Traffic Infraction Enforcement Program Specialists confirmed 114 violations and issued citations to those violators. Any person who receives a citation has 30 days to pay the administrative fine; the citation can be contested, but if the County Code Enforcement Magistrate rules against the violator, there will be an additional hearing fee on top of the $100 citation fine.

Summer school is in session for the Wiles/Kanapaha school zone from June 8 to June 30. The school zone in this location will be active from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The school zone speed cameras for Chiles Elementary on SW 24th Avenue have been shut down until the new school year begins.

I’m at the point now to where I don’t really care about one’s politics anymore. However, if you agree with the surveillance state you are an enemy to regular people. Basically: The government bears the burden of proving its case, not the other way around. In other words, they have to prove you were the driver at the time of the violation. Can’t prove it, it gets thrown out.
This should apply to law enforcement and all government vehicles.

If anyone really cared about safety you’d stop letting violent homeless people terrorize families at every stoplight and fix the roads.
