15-year-old attacked on RTS bus

Eugene Eddie Thurman, Jr., was arrested on February 24 after a 15-year-old was attacked on an RTS bus that evening.
At about 8:10 p.m. on February 24, the victim and Thurman were passengers on an RTS city bus. The teenager said he approached Thurman because he thought he recognized him from a retail store. Thurman allegedly offered the teen an alcoholic beverage, and the teen declined. The teen then went to the bus driver and told him that Thurman had alcohol on the bus.
At that point, Thurman, who was reportedly intoxicated, allegedly began arguing with the victim, and the dispute became physical. Thurman allegedly punched the victim in the face, which led the victim to fall off the bus. Thurman then allegedly fell on the victim and started biting his ear; when the victim pushed his head away, Thurman allegedly bit the victim’s hand. Thurman then reportedly stumbled and fell to the ground, striking his head on a concrete wall. Injuries to both Thurman and the victim were non-life-threatening.
Thurman has been charged with aggravated child abuse and remains in the Alachua County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Mam I say this with all due respect. lm not sure if you live in Gainesville or have lived here,but i do all of my life. I have noticed that most of your comments are very negative and sometimes down right mean. Gainesville has its good and bad things that has occurred as other cities….please take note of this when you post you comments…I Was taught if you cannot say anything nice…then don’t say them at all. As for the animal comment posted above. I happened to know this young man and i DO NOT condone his behavior and actions AT ALL. Some where along this thing we call life it fell apart, but calling him an animal is very harsh. I feel for the child and him as well…but i guess that what makes your world go around. Please stay safe and be careful about what you say about others, because it could be you or someone you may know
The interim city manager needs to get the panhandlers out of the Street medians and their Shiz off the sidewalks… they need to get a free ride to Grace or jail
