16-year-old charged as adult in stabbing

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Adriana K. Taylor, 16, has been charged as an adult with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing a woman on May 16 at Verdant Cove Apartments.

Cameras at Verdant Cove reportedly show a juvenile girl and the victim arriving at the apartment complex at about 2:30 p.m. with the intention of fighting Taylor as part of an ongoing feud. Taylor can be seen behind her apartment, arguing with the juvenile, and both are reportedly shown in “aggressive stances” before engaging in a physical fight. Taylor’s sister, Terriana Nakilashey Taylor, 18, reportedly ran over to help Taylor, and the victim ran over to help the juvenile girl. The victim is reportedly shown fighting with Terriana while Taylor and the juvenile girl continue to fight. Taylor reportedly ended up on the ground, with the juvenile girl hitting her several times. The victim also reportedly ended up on the ground, with Terriana hitting her several times. The arrest affidavit notes that no weapons were seen during the fights.

After the parties disengaged, the victim and the juvenile girl walked away while continuing to argue with Taylor and Terriana. An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that the video shows Taylor going inside her apartment and coming out with a knife in her hands. Taylor reportedly walked around the area screaming while Terriana and the victim began fighting again. Taylor reportedly noticed the fight and ran over to help Terriana, with the knife in her hand. As the two women fought, the victim fell to the ground, and Taylor allegedly stabbed the victim several times in the stomach and other parts of her body with her knife. Taylor reportedly ran away and put the knife back in her apartment. The victim can reportedly be seen walking away, bleeding from her stomach. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Post Miranda, Taylor reportedly admitted that she stabbed the victim.

Taylor has a juvenile criminal history; Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $50,000.

Terriana Taylor has been charged by sworn complaint with disorderly affray in connection with the incident, but no warrant has been issued for her arrest.
