16-year-old on probation charged as adult for pointing gun at victim

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kyllian Rober Doby, 16, has been charged as an adult for allegedly pointing a gun at a victim after jumping a fence into the victim’s yard.

At about 6:57 p.m. on May 29, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a residence in Holly Heights North, where the victim said he was sitting in his wheelchair by the fence in his yard when two males jumped over the fence, and one of them pointed a gun at him, putting him in fear for his life. He said the subject was wearing a tan hoodie and black pants, and he described the gun as a black handgun with an extended magazine.

The victim’s wife and son reportedly drove down the road, located the two males, and took a video of them; one was wearing a tan hoodie with black pants, and the other was wearing a dark green shirt with gray sweatpants and a black bag. The second male was later found to be 13 years old, and he does not appear to have been charged with any crime.

A deputy located Doby and activated the emergency lights on her marked patrol vehicle, but Doby allegedly ran. Deputies found Doby in the area, wearing white shorts and no shirt, and he reportedly apologized for running from them.

The handgun was reportedly found at the scene and matched the description provided by the victim; the victim also positively identified Doby as the subject who had pointed a gun at him. A deputy noted that Doby appeared to be the male wearing a tan hoodie in the video.

Doby has been charged as an adult with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent. Doby has multiple juvenile convictions, but the specific charges are not currently available; he was on juvenile probation at the time of his arrest. The bail set in his arrest warrant was $150,000; this article will be updated tomorrow with more specific information.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
