16-year-old on probation charged as an adult in two cases involving firearms

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kader’eon B. Manning, 16, has been charged as an adult in two cases involving firearms.

Manning was arrested and booked as a juvenile on January 19 for allegedly burglarizing a vehicle in the 200 block of SE 19th Place and stealing a firearm from the vehicle. After consent was obtained for a search of his residence, the stolen firearm was reportedly recovered, along with two other firearms and ammunition. Manning was on juvenile probation at the time, and his ankle monitor reportedly showed him in the area of the burglary during the incident.

Gainesville Police Department officers also charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent for an incident on January 6 in which Manning and other juveniles allegedly confronted a victim in the area of NE 12th Avenue and NE 23rd Street. Several weapons were allegedly displayed, and several of the juveniles allegedly threatened the victim. Manning’s ankle monitor reportedly showed him in the area of that incident at the time of the incident, and Manning was reportedly identified by the victim

According to court documents, Manning has a history of violence and a juvenile conviction for a charge that would be a felony for an adult. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $575,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Again how is bail afforded. He has been deemed violent by the courts, he has proven that even with a ankle monitor he is still going to steal and play with guns. Another Eastside scholar setting his career path.

  • Fake News I don’t believe any of this racist propaganda from the AC. I happen to know this young lad is the 2026 Eastside High School International Baccalaureate Valedictorian has a 1600 on the SAT and 36 on the ACT. Kader’eon was actually working in a top secret gun relocation program for the GSSR. And don’t you dare say anything about his parents they both were 2010 Howard Bishop Middle School Honor Grads.

    • I believe it all as it happen to know one of the victims, it is a shame that he is not applying himself for better goals in life instead of working to experience what life is like behind bars!

    • -F grade for lame humor attempt
      A+ for bigotry
Young people do stupid stuff, does charging as an adult work? Do prisons reform or promote antisocial behaviors?

  • Quite the tough guy. Well onto a life of crime at age 16. Prediction: he’ll either be dead or in prison for life within the next few years.

    Idiot.

  • I need to address this as someone directly involved in this case as my fiancé is the victim. The misinformation and denial in this comment thread is not only inaccurate, it’s INSULTING to the victim of this case.

This is not “fake news” or some internet conspiracy. A firearm was pointed at my fiancé.

Read that again and imagine the victim was someone YOU LOVE.

That is a serious, violent situation…not a topic for jokes, fan fiction, or character rewrites.

And for clarity: this individual was already involved with the justice system prior to this incident, which makes the escalation here especially concerning.

No amount of rewriting reality changes what happened. My interest here is not debating someone’s SAT score or internet rumors—it’s acknowledging the severity of what my fiancé experienced and the very real consequences of these actions.

If you weren’t there, don’t insult the person whose life was threatened by pretending it no didn’t happen.
