17-year-old arrested for allegedly causing $60k in damage to apartment complex gym

ALACHUA, Fla. – Brady Dixon, 17, of Alachua, has been arrested as a juvenile for allegedly vandalizing a gym in an Alachua apartment complex, causing an estimated $60,000 in damage.
Alachua Police Department identified Dixon after an anonymous tip was submitted to Crime Stoppers of North Central Florida in response to a social media post asking the public for help in identifying the suspect.
At about 5:14 a.m. on May 26, Dixon, who is not a resident of One 51 Place Apartments, allegedly entered the clubhouse/gym area through an emergency exit door located on the rear side of the gym and caused extensive damage after a bathroom vanity was ripped from the wall, resulting in major flooding throughout the gym, clubhouse area, and basketball court. Damages are currently estimated at around $60,000.
Dixon has been charged with burglary of a structure causing damage in excess of $1,000 and felony property damage.

He should be charged as an adult
This is contrary to how ASO, the county, & Gville operates. I admire how Alachua puts criminals on blast instead of coddling them for more social credit points.
Charged not convicted, that distinction matters.
Hopefully he’ll be held accountable and have to reimburse every cent of repairs needed.
That’s a lot of community service hours — he would have been better off studying for a high school diploma or college degree. It appears another idiot is being raised without any sense of acceptable behaviors.
Charge him as an adult and he needs to do community service hours to work off the repayment of the repairs. Just maybe that will help teach him what he done is not acceptable behavior.
His first 30-year, $60,000 mortgage -preapproved with no property taxes and no insurance. I’m guessing at 6% the payment is about $360 per month for 30 years. Perhaps his parents will cosign the loan.

He committed a random act of vandalism by knocking a sink off the wall and water ran for a few hours on the floor.. that can be vacuumed and sucked up and dried with fans…there were no working floor drains in that gym bathroom?

I am 75 yrs old. At 17, I would have never thought of destroying another’s property. What are these kids being taught today? Discipline is a concept that unfortunately has been forgotten. May God help us all,…..

Hopefully the apartment complex will sue for damages and little Brady can spend the next decade paying his parents back.
Kudos to ASO for posting this, more juvenile delinquents should be put on blast like this. They should post the parent(s) of juveniles too, in my opinion.

Interested in if he wasn’t charged as an adult, why was his name and photo released? Not like he’s been convicted and he’s a juvenile.
Law enforcement can release the names and pictures of juveniles if they’re charged with a felony.

Part of the problem is that little brady never had a good spanking or was told ‘no’ at some point. Little brady now goes about things in a manner he sees fit without respect or consequence. How many participation trophies line little brady’s closet? If I were the Judge I and he owes $60k I would order him to join the military at 18 in lieu of jail.
