17-year-old charged as adult after allegedly threatening girlfriend with gun

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eric Gerrard Green, 17, has been charged as an adult with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and domestic battery by strangulation following an alleged May 23 domestic violence incident.
Green allegedly threatened to “pistol whip” and shoot his girlfriend while displaying a firearm, then allegedly hit her with the pistol, slapped her three times, and strangled her to the point that her breathing was affected and she was afraid she would die. He also allegedly threatened to kill her family and took her phone after she called her family for help. The victim reportedly tried to leave Green’s apartment, but he allegedly threatened to harm her if she left.
When a family member of the victim tried to help her get out of the apartment, Green allegedly pointed a gun at the family member and said he would shoot her if she did not leave.
A search of the apartment reportedly produced a Taurus pistol that had previously been reported stolen in Gainesville. The arresting officer charged Green with grand theft of a firearm, but the charges filed by the State Attorney’s Office do not include that charge or any charges related to possession of the gun.
Green has a juvenile criminal history. Judge Walter Green set bail at $200,000, with a requirement that Green be fitted with a GPS monitor before release.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
