17-year-old charged as adult after allegedly threatening girlfriend with gun

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eric Gerrard Green, 17, has been charged as an adult with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and domestic battery by strangulation following an alleged May 23 domestic violence incident.

Green allegedly threatened to “pistol whip” and shoot his girlfriend while displaying a firearm, then allegedly hit her with the pistol, slapped her three times, and strangled her to the point that her breathing was affected and she was afraid she would die. He also allegedly threatened to kill her family and took her phone after she called her family for help. The victim reportedly tried to leave Green’s apartment, but he allegedly threatened to harm her if she left.

When a family member of the victim tried to help her get out of the apartment, Green allegedly pointed a gun at the family member and said he would shoot her if she did not leave.

A search of the apartment reportedly produced a Taurus pistol that had previously been reported stolen in Gainesville. The arresting officer charged Green with grand theft of a firearm, but the charges filed by the State Attorney’s Office do not include that charge or any charges related to possession of the gun.

Green has a juvenile criminal history. Judge Walter Green set bail at $200,000, with a requirement that Green be fitted with a GPS monitor before release.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • So, the gun charges, the ones which really matter, don’t appear in the State Attorney’s charges. WTF.

    • Maybe the office, or at least some of the attorneys, have a special interest? Definitely beneficial to some progressive ideologies and detrimental to the general public’s safety to not have the most serious charges filed.

  • A thug minor with a prior criminal history gets the possession of stolen firearm charge and possession of a firearm by a minor charges erased, must be nice. He will be one we end up paying for perpetually to be in the system. Better to just take him out back and get it over with.

    • If he is, what does that have to do with the story? It is Kramer, the SA who downgraded the gun charges. How do the local Democrats hope to curb criminal violence by not prosecuting gun related crimes (to the fullest)? More smoke and mirrors from the local left.

  • The word “girlfriend” has a different meaning in the Urban Dictionary, it seems.

  • Taurus, haha… Glock for wannabe-gangstas not on a high dolla budget.

  • The judge thought he was a little girly looking to go to prison so he dropped the gun charges.

  • What a sad future this young man has in store for himself.
I’m sure his parents are devastated. Especially his Dad.

      • Tally…. One Hundred PerCent right. On top of that, the report indicates that the responding family member was a “she”. Odds are that there was no daddy in the victim’s life either. Why am I not surprised??

        • I know if it were my daughter, her dad would probably be the logical one going to the police, where as I would show up bat F’ing crazy, bringing my 357, hell and all it’s fury with me. He better hope his draw is quicker than mine.
