17-year-old charged as adult with battery in juvenile detention facility

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Laderrick Ismael Soto McCall, Jr., 17, of Macclenny, has been charged as an adult with battery on another detainee in the juvenile detention facility.

The incident happened in September 2022, and the adult charge was filed in November. Judge Wendy Thurow ordered that he be transported from the juvenile detention facility to the Alachua County Jail in November, and he was transported this week. Judge James Colaw set bail at $50,000, double the State Attorney bond recommendation of $25,000.

According to court records, McCall has three pending adult cases in Baker County, with charges that include shooting into a dwelling, aggravated assault, child abuse, criminal mischief, and two counts of aggravated battery. He also has a juvenile criminal history of battery, criminal mischief, and petit theft.
