GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Brianna Castillo, 18, of Summerfield, was arrested early this morning for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman downtown and unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm; she also allegedly drove a vehicle toward the victim, nearly hitting her.

At about 3:37 a.m. on June 7, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of SE 2nd Avenue, where Castillo was reportedly involved in an argument with the victim before allegedly pulling a handgun from her waistband and pointing it at the victim multiple times. The victim reported that she was in fear for her life and believed Castillo would shoot her.

The victim described the firearm, and a firearm matching that description was reportedly found under Castillo’s seat in a vehicle.

Post Miranda, Castillo reportedly admitted to possessing the gun but denied pointing it at the victim; she said she held it by her leg after pulling it from her waistband.

The officer noted that it is illegal for Castillo to conceal a firearm because she is 18.

A witness reportedly said that a short time after the incident with the gun, Castillo drove a vehicle aggressively toward the victim, coming extremely close to hitting her. The victim reportedly confirmed that Castillo drove aggressively toward her, and she thought Castillo was going to hit her with the vehicle.

Castillo has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm. She has no criminal convictions, and Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $225,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Find who provided her the firearm and charge them as well.
These idiots have no business having a firearm in 3, 5, or 0 days.

    • I totally agree. She’s an idiot however 18-year-olds can go into military put their life on the line and defend mine in your freedom. The gun does not become the problem. 18-year-olds get drunk get high on drugs drive cars and have wrecks and kills. People should they not possess cars.

  • The “Unlawfully Possessing a Concealed Firearm” should be the most curious part of this, as you don’t need a permit or license to conceal carry in Florida.

  • “When you’re alone and life is making you lonely
    You can always go downtown
When you’ve got worries, all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help, I know, downtown
    So go downtown
Things will be great when you’re downtown
No finer place for sure, downtown
    Everything’s waiting for you”
