18-year-old Ocala man arrested with stolen gun after early morning shooting on W. University Avenue
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Isaiah Earl Williams, 18, of Ocala, was arrested early this morning and charged with grand theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a delinquent under 24 years of age while officers were investigating shots fired in the 1000 block of W. University Avenue; one person was reportedly grazed by a bullet, but the victim had not been located at the time the arrest report was written.
At about 3:49 a.m., Gainesville Police Department officers were dealing with large crowds in the 1000 block of W. University Avenue when they heard about 15 gunshots. Officers went to the shooting location and reportedly found cars that had been hit by gunfire and one victim who had been grazed by a bullet. A witness reportedly pointed to a group walking away and said some of the shooters were in that group; the witness added that the “[black male] in the black shirt had a gun in his waistband.”
Officers made contact with the group, and a pat down of Williams reportedly produced a loaded Glock pistol in his waistband. The arresting officer noted that “in the chaos,” the gunshot victim walked away and had not been located as of the time the report was written and had not shown up at any local hospital.
The gun was reportedly loaded with 14 rounds and had been reported stolen in Ocala in 2020.
Post Miranda, Williams reportedly denied being involved in the shooting.
Williams reportedly had several juvenile felony convictions as a juvenile in Marion County, including a 2019 car burglary. He is being held without bail until his first appearance hearing on Monday morning.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Several felony convictions??!!
Why was he released??!!
At 18 years old no less. He chose the Thug life.
What in the heck is the constant violence issue on University Avenue? Wokesville can’t (won’t)control it’s borders and crime just like LGB can’t(won’t) the USA. Poe Poe and District 22 Arehola just excel in lawlessness .
And why the 1000 block in particular? Is it the bar & hookah lounge, open 8 pm – 4 am?
Aren’t you glad we elected Obama for nothing? So he could normalize rap and thug culture, betraying his own upbringing by caring non-racist grandparents, his education and family life priorities — just for D votes? 👿💩👹👺🤡D
Your comments have literally 0 sense with the current situation lol. Good try at attempting to make things racial. The point is that the kid shouldn’t have access to firearms and shouldn’t be released for any reason, genius.
See if he’s still in jail after Monday.
But he’s glad his parent(s) voted for Obama and Biden. That’s all that matters here.
Everything is political with you..What you seem to not discuss is Florida’s government has been deep red for quite awhile. They make the local law.Maybe you should move,as Gainesville has been historically been Blue.Maybe Texas
There isn’t anything going to fix him. Best send him back to Marion in a container.
That mugshot…..”You in a heap of trouble son”!
Thugger Lives Do Not Matter
He’s a good boy. Just got caught up with the wrong crowd…
Darn it GPD. How are we ever going to send astronauts to the moon if you keep arresting all our future rocket scientists?
