19-year-old arrested for ‘randomly’ attacking juvenile on West University Avenue

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jacob (aka Jordan) Ramon Gonzalez, 19, was arrested early this morning and charged with child abuse after allegedly randomly attacking a juvenile male on West University Avenue.

At about 12:58 a.m. on January 17, Gainesville Police Department officers were patrolling in the 1700 block of West University Avenue when they saw Gonzalez pursuing and fighting with the victim, a juvenile.

The victim reportedly said he was randomly approached by Gonzalez, who started pushing and punching him. The victim said Gonzalez broke a chain he was wearing.

Gonzalez reportedly said he was knocked out and didn’t remember anything, but officers noted that Gonzalez was aggressive and was never unconscious while they were present.

Two witnesses reportedly said they saw Gonzalez walk up to the victim and say something about his TikTok videos. The witnesses said they saw Gonzalez repeatedly punch the victim in the face while the victim tried to back away and defend himself.

An officer noted that both Gonzalez and the victim had bloody lips, and the victim had blood on his clothing.

Gonzalez has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm. He has no local criminal convictions. Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $1,000.
