GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Harold Leon McMahon, Jr., 22, of Williston, was arrested early this morning and charged with grand theft auto, fleeing, and resisting arrest without violence.
A Gainesville Police Department officer reported that he attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been reported stolen, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and continued to drive in an attempt to avoid apprehension.
The driver, who was identified as McMahon, was eventually arrested in the 3900 block of SW 20th Avenue. He reportedly made no statements post Miranda.
McMahon has 13 felony convictions and 6 misdemeanor convictions; he served a 2-year state prison sentence on the 19 charges and was released in October of 2021. He also has a juvenile history and some out-of-county convictions. He is being held on $35,000 bail.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
WTF is Sean Brewer’s judgeship campaign plank, anyone know?
Impressive – 22 years and 13 felonies. That’s over 3 every two years. Some people should just be eliminated.
You’re advocating for this person to be killed?
No, just a one-way ticket to Pyongyang. But I like your thinking. Very efficient.
There is no such thing as crime in America anymore. Its a free for all society, rob, steal and even kill if you want. As humans we have lost our conscience of right and wrong…
13 felony convictions and he is still on the loose? It appears that the 8th circuit has failed the people of Alachua county.
Hopefully the new State Attorney will remedy this miscarriage of justice.
