Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – According to Gainesville Police Department, 52-year-old Angel Sue Marston was killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday night.
At about 9 p.m. on March 28, Marston was riding a motorcycle southbound on SW 13th Street and slowed to make a U-turn in the 2500 block; a minivan traveling southbound on SW 13th Street hit the motorcycle from the rear, ejecting the rider. Marston was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
Tragic. Prayers for her family and loved ones, in addition to the driver and occupants of the van. Be safe, folks.
Very sad. I wonder why sometimes, (but hardly ever,) the name of the victim is released. The inconsistency has me SMH.
Law enforcement usually does not release the name. This time, they did.
In Florida, Marcy’s law leaves it up to the family as to whether they are allowed to release victims’ names.
Her name was released because next of kin notification had been completed. Marcy’s has nothing to do with a crash because this crash is not a crime, at least at this point.
FHP never releases names although they almost always indicate the next of kin has been notified.
