78-year-old Gainesville woman killed in crash near Oakmont

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 78-year-old Gainesville woman was killed this afternoon in a crash on SW 24th Avenue near Oakmont.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, at about 2:50 p.m. today, the woman was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe east on SW 24th Avenue near SW 117th Street when the Tahoe drifted to the left for unknown reasons and hit the side of a 2002 Ford pickup truck that was pulling a utility trailer westbound. After hitting the pickup, the Tahoe hit the front section of the utility trailer.

The woman was transported to UF Health Shands, where she was pronounced deceased. She was wearing a seatbelt.

The pickup truck was driven by a 41-year-old Gainesville man, who was wearing a seatbelt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
