At the afternoon session of today’s Alachua County Commission meeting, the commissioners agreed to ratify a proposed amendment to the County’s Emergency Order.

County Attorney Sylvia Torres said the change was made at the request of the City of Gainesville, and it clarifies that businesses can be issued separate citations for each employee not wearing a mask: “Each employee failing to wear a facial covering without an exemption as set forth in this Order shall be treated as a separate violation for which the employer may be cited.”

Torres continued, “The intent of this provision is to permit multiple citations to be given to businesses if their employees are not wearing masks.”

The commissioners (with Commissioner Ken Cornell absent) said they had no objection to the change, but they didn’t formally vote on it. Commission Chair Robert Hutchinson said he would sign it when it’s ready.

  • I guess that’s only right, since Wheeler thinks she needs a mask for a Zoom meeting…
    (I’m kidding.)
    OMGoodness…
They are so out of control power hungry..
They want to control us to make themselves look good.

  • Hmm this city needs to rehear what the governor said. NO FINE… you cant over ride what the people higher then you said. You are dirty city and need sometime behind bars

      • I guess what you mean is that the governors’ order suspends penalties for individual citizens but not for
Employees of businesses? Does the governor need to
Fix the language so business are protected?

          • Maybe the rural communities can sue each individual commie commissioner instead of just the singular commission. That would be a great idea…if found liable by their individual “yes” vote, each commissioner would be responsible for any penalties imposed. Either that or issue a citation to each one for being a standalone dumb@r$e.

  • Recognizing that both employees and customers are allowed mask exemptions is a baby step forward. However, I doubt the commission or City will ever have the cranial space to embrace the overwhelming body of “science” that demonstrates that masks are a health hazard to both healthy workers and the healthy general public. Accusing elected officials and their non-elected minions of practicing medicine without a licence is not made in jest.
    .
Let’s look at just the one category of “cloth masks” — “The widespread use of cloth masks by healthcare workers may actually put them at increased risk of respiratory illness and viral infections and their global use should be discouraged, according to a UNSW study.” — Complete randomized clinical trial study: https://bit.ly/2Gc0nH2

  • Last paragraph of the article: “…they didn’t formally vote on it”…don’t they have to formally vote on it to make the
Process legally binding? They can just change things
Without public input and no vote??

    • Because of the state of emergency, Hutchinson has full authority to issue these on his own. He asked for objections and didn’t get any; there was no need, legally, to actually take a vote.

  • On the general issue of masks, listen to the two OSHA certified agents who were interviewed on the Highwire. Only days following this program, the CDC released a study that largely agreed by claiming there is no statistical difference between wearing a mask and not wearing a mask in order to prevent the spread of the alleged SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
    .
Keep in mind that “spreading” Covid-19 is largely measured by the science fraud of PCR testing on individuals with no symptoms. The inventor of the PCR “method”, Dr. Kary Mullis asserted in a 1993 interview, that his PCR method has no ability to detect a viral infection. Credible virologists and experts not captured by Big Pharma agree.
    .
MULLIS: ” It (PCR) doesn’t tell you that you’re sick and it doesn’t tell you that the thing you ended up with was going to hurt you or anything like that.”

  • We know what “Poe” Hutchinson sucks on. Gotta love these tyrants and their so called “emergency orders” to keep the residents under oppression.
Anyone notice that once again Byerly left during the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance?

    • Two seats are up right now, both for new commissioners (Hutchinson is retiring and Byerly lost in his primary). See our Voter Guide (top post on our home page). Chestnut ran unopposed.

    • Word on the street is that the two DemRats running for their positions are even more supportive of S0ci@list’ beliefs than the departing wingnuts.
      Save the Republic…vote Conservative.
