Alachua County asks residents to take this storm seriously
Press release from Alachua County
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Hurricane Cone Map shows the likely path of the storm’s center, but it doesn’t reflect the storm’s full size or the areas that will experience dangerous conditions. So, even though Alachua County is outside the current cone, it will still be impacted.
The Wind Field Map, on the other hand, displays how far the storm’s tropical storm- and hurricane-force winds extend from the center. This means the wind field often covers a much larger area than the cone, showing places like Alachua County will still face strong winds even if the center passes at a distance.
In short, the cone predicts the storm’s track, while the wind field shows how far its winds reach, providing a more complete view of potential impacts.
The map on the left is the cone map, and the wind field map is on the right. The wind field map does not show the current location of the storm.
To aid our residents as the storm approaches, Alachua County has activated the 311 Emergency Information Line (352-264-6557 if 311 is unavailable in your area). This is for questions and rumor control. If you have a true emergency call 911.
“Alachua County asks residents to take this storm seriously”
The County is oh so serious they closed the county offices early in ‘preparation’ for the storm.
It’s gonna miss us and gov workers & teachers will get paid not to work.
Please remove your head from the posterior portion of you anatomy.
They said take it seriously which them closing the offices means they’re taking it seriously. I’m not understanding your tone. They’re doing exactly what they’re asking us to do.
Anybody that has lived in Florida, thru one Hurricane, pretty much knows how unrelenting and dangerous they can be, why do I detect some kind of under current coming from, TWC and the Public Rep’s. It is almost like they are saying, “get out there and spend as much Money, even on stuff you don’t really need, as you can”. I guess I just don’t trust these people that do all the talking. Hopefully the Good Lord will forgive my pessisimon
Work for City of Jacksonville. Thankful that they care about letting non- essential employees off to prepare or prepare for family coming in from the Gulf Coast.
