Staff report from Alachua County Fire Rescue release

ALACHUA, Fla. – Alachua County Fire Rescue responded to a report of a residential building fire yesterday afternoon and quickly extinguished the fire, saving the home. The residents evacuated safely.

At about 2 p.m. on November 25, units responded to a reported fire in the city of Alachua with the possibility that two people were inside the house. Crews found smoke coming from the eaves of a single-story house, and fire could be seen through a window in an area near the kitchen.

The crews aggressively attacked and extinguished the fire; a search by firefighters found no victims inside the house, and the residents were later found outside, near the street. The quick response prevented substantial damage and saved the house. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Alachua County Fire Rescue reminds everyone to have a fire evacuation plan with a meeting point for your family.
