The Alachua County Library District will be closed on Sunday, June 19, and Monday, June 20, for Juneteenth. All branches will resume normal hours on Tuesday, June 21.
Book drops and online services at www.aclib.us will be available during the closure.
WHY?
This is offensive. It suggests that Juneteenth celebrants are unlikely to want to use their free time to go the library to pick up an enjoyable book. It implies an odious correlation between race and literacy. Bad move Library District!
