Lieberman also presented her FY26 Budget Message.

Budget message recommendations include:

  • Responsible budgeting in uncertain financial times
  • A focus on core services
  • A reduced millage rate for the ninth consecutive year.
  • $239 million invested in public safety (law enforcement and fire rescue).
  • $104 million to improve and maintain County roads and bridges.
  • Addressing the County’s critical building needs (including building a new animal shelter, civil courthouse, and moving Fire Rescue and Emergency Operations).

“The FY26 tentative budget upholds our long-standing standards of fiscal discipline by delivering a balanced budget with a lowered tax burden,” Lieberman said. “It is a blueprint for responsible governance that meets today’s realities while safeguarding tomorrow’s promise.”

  • “Lowered tax burden.” Does this statement mean lower taxes, or higher taxes at a lower rate due to increased ‘value’ of our property?

    • While some people roll up their sleeves and work to make this community a better place, you make comments that sound like they come from an 8-year-old. Well, a rather slow-witted 8-year-old with no sense of humor. You might want to invest the 28 minutes to learn something, but that would require increasing your attention span by 27 minutes and 58 seconds.

      Bless your heart.
